The Goal
Broader awareness of I Challenge Myself from simply teens riding bikes, to the long term benefits of healthy teens, academically stronger, and confident. Partnering with Mt. Sinai’s Pediatric Endocrinology Diabetes Center further highlights the youth obesity diabetes crisis. Jeta B’s photography weaves the missions of I Challenge Myself and Mt. Sinai into one vision – ONE EYE.
The Scene
As the melodic tunes of Dizzy and Stevie Wonder played in the background, a figure in red bobbed through the crowd exuding an effervescent air that was contagious. It is the artist, Jeta B. She enthusiastically explains the muses in her photos, ICM participants, that captured her. Her passion is infectious and she is quick to introduce you to the teens that bared their face and soul to her.

The teens are timid when they enter the exhibit, but a change quickly occurs when they notice people gathered around their photo. They eagerly show family and friends their photo. They gush as guests request pictures of them next to their photo. Celebrities for the night, they strike a pose while the cameras flash. More than learning how to ride 100 miles in a day, the teens learned inner strength, they challenged family members to join their health challenge and through the discipline of training they learned the benefits of its application in school work and how they view life. This is definitely more than a story of teens on bikes. It is a story of holistic transformation – physically, mentally, and academically – ONE EYE.
